Franck Ribery on the left, Lionel Messi on the right and David Villa in the centre is Barcelona's dream for next term - and El Mundo Deportivo have ten reasons why it could happen
Barcelona want to sign Franck Ribery and David Villa in the summer to make a dream trio up-front alongside Lionel Messi - and there are ten reasons why it could happen, according to a report.
The Blaugrana are looking to replenish their squad at the end of the current campaign and have been strongly linked with both the Frenchman and the Valencia forward.
El Mundo Deportivo believe that there are very good reasons why both transfers could, and should, be pushed through if both Samuel Eto'o and Thierry Henry are sold, as expected.
"Villa is among the best goalscorers in the world, while Ribery's versatility has made him a favourite of Guardiola," the report begins.
"The Valencia striker has revelled in the pressure at Mestalla and scored goals at every level while keeping Raul out of the Spain squad.
"Ribery is now the leader of the French team and the best player at Bayern.
"Both players are at an ideal age, with Villa being 27 and Ribery 26."
Financial considerations are also covered, with both the would-be selling cubs, Bayern and Valencia, and the players concerned claimed to be likely beneficiaries of the pair's transfer to Barcelona.
"Valencia are going through an economic crisis and may have to sell their stars for a reduced price, among them Villa. While Bayern have begun to consider letting Ribery go and could accept a bid of €30m," El Mundo Deportivo continues.
"Ribery is paid around €3.75m-per-year at Bayern, while Villa earns €3m at Valencia, and both would see those figures rise considerably at Camp Nou.
"The team that won the league and the Champions League in 2006 has not been properly renewed and the club has paid for that."
Warding off interest from England and from Real Madrid is also a priority if Barcelona are to remain at the forefront of the European game.
"The big money is in the Premier League, whether it be with the nouveau riche of Manchester City or the old guard of Manchester United. One is considering Villa while the other is watching Ribery," the report states.
"Los Blancos have their presidential elections this summer and that could see Florentino Perez return. But in a recession, the best players are not always available and he will have to be cautious."
Joan Laporta has to stand down as president at the end of next season and is keen to round of his spell at the helm in style.
"The Barcelona president will want to go into his last season as president with a great team and it could be that they play in the final of the Champions League which is set to be held in the Bernabeu," the story continues.
Neither Ribery nor Villa have hidden their admiration for Barcelona and that has also appeared to encourage both the club and the media.
"Ribery has made it clear he would like to join Barça, while Villa's agent, Jose Luis Tamargo, has stated that his client would score plenty of goals in Camp Nou and would make an incredible partner for Messi," the report concludes.
