Mark van Bommel has revealed that Franck Ribery has stated that he would like to join Barcelona amid reports that the Frenchman is set to leave Bayern Munich in the summer.
The Dutch midfielder explained why he feels his current team-mate would have few problems slotting into Pep Guardiola's side.
In the 2005-06 campaign, Van Bommel helped Barca to win the league and Champions League and he thinks Ribery would thrive if he were to join the club.
"Franck wants to play for Barca," he told RAC-1 radio station. "He is a great player for [Bayern Munich].
"He is the best player in Germany and his style of play would suit Barcelona's style because he is very technical and is strong going forward."
Ribery has been linked with a move away from Bayern at the end of the current campaign and his agent has helped to fuel the stories by stating that his client would enjoy playing in Spain.
The Bavarian club's officials have stated in unison that they will not be looking to let him leave as the French star has a contract with the club until 2012.
