The Blaugrana technical director has revealed that the key to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League is to score away from home

The two highest scoring teams in the Champions League this season will go head to head in the quarter-finals as Barcelona lock horns with Bayern Munich and Txiki Bergiristain believes that indeed, scoring goals at the Allianz Arena will be crucial.

The technical director was disappointed that the Blaugrana will have the disadvantage of playing the second leg away from home but he is certain that it will be a tight affair in both ties.

“Bayern will head into the clash on an upward momentum, just like we are, and we are both alive in three competitions,” he said in an interview with Ona FM.

“We know that their style of football will give us many problems, but we have to be faithful to our own playing philosophy, although we must also play with intelligence.

“We have often demonstrated this season that we can score on the road and we must continue to do that. We must have the confidence that we can score away from home,” he added.

Txiki singled out one player from Bayern as a main threat and it was no surprise who he picked.

“Ribery is a quality player, but he wasn’t the only one responsible for beating Sporting CP 12-1 [on aggregate]. It will be necessary to keep an eye on all their players,” he warned.

Barcelona will entertain Malaga this weekend in the Primera Division and face Real Valladolid two weeks later before welcoming Bayern to the Camp Nou on April 8 for the first leg.
