Alan Shearer Confirmed As Newcastle United Manager Until The End Of The Season

The Geordie legend is back at St. James' Park, and he is the new manager of the club...

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has been linked numerous times with a return to St. James' Park, but tonight it has been announced as official by numerous UK sources.

The news broke earlier tonight that the Magpies, who are without a full-time manager since Joe Kinnear took a leave of absence to undergo heart surgery, have taken a gamble on the former striker.

Caretaker boss Chris Hughton will thus step aside to allow Shearer to take the hotseat until the end of the current Premier League campaign.

Shearer, 38, has long been viewed as the choice of some of the more vocal St. James' fans to lead the Geordie outfit.

Having scored in excess of 200 goals for his hometown club in a ten year period, he is regarded as a hero on Tyneside.

However, he has no management experience either in the top flight or below.

Newcastle United, owned by controversial sportswear magnate Mike Ashley, have yet to comment.

Dennis Wise Leaves Newcastle As Shearer Prepares To Takeover

The club have announced that there are no plans to fill the role left vacant by wise...

Newcastle United have confirmed this evening that Dennis Wise has left his position as Executive Director at St James's Park.

Wise joined the Magpies a year when ago, leaving his role as Leeds manager to play a part in Mike Ashley's new reign.

However, plenty of fans were critical of the appointment of Wise and have been calling for his head for plenty of time now.

Even former boss Kevin Keegan was not thought to be a fan of Wise and Alan Shearer, who is set to takeover as manager tomorrow, has criticised the structure at the club before.

The fact that the club have announced that there are no plans could well mean more control for new manager Shearer in the transfer market, assuming he makes it through to the summer.

In a statement released by the club this evening, they confirmed that the former Chelsea man will no longer be at the club.

"Newcastle United can today confirm that Dennis Wise has left his position as Executive Director (Football)," read the statement.

"The Club would like to take this opportunity to wish Dennis well for the future.

"There are no plans to appoint a replacement in this role."
