    Agreed, stick to one topic forever.

    Two week break from serie A football, good chance for Roma to get some of their absences back. Italia will face Vucinic's Montenegro and Keano's Ireland. Plus Lippi made numerous surprise call-ups.

    New names face Montenegro and Ireland - Pasquale Foggia, Salvatore Bocchetti, Marco Motta, Giampaolo Pazzini and Matteo Brighi.

    Marcello Lippi has promoted all three from the Under-21 squad where they join Giuseppe Rossi, now a stable part of the senior side.

    Pazzini has scored eight goals in as many games since joining Sampdoria in January and was on target again today for a 3-1 win at Torino.

    Bocchetti has impressed in the Genoa defence, while Motta has been a revelation for Roma after a midseason switch from Udinese.

    Foggia is not a senior debutant, as he already has two caps with the Azzurri from 2007, but returns following his fine form for Lazio.

    Brighi was called by current Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni for a friendly against Slovenia.

    Italy continue their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign in Podgorica on Saturday March 28 and welcome Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland to the San Nicola in Bari on Wednesday April 1.

    Some players who would've made it in are injured, such as Luca Toni, Nicola Legrottaglie, Gennaro Gattuso, Daniele Bonera, Simone Perrotta, Mauro Camoranesi and Alberto Aquilani.

    Alberto Gilardino also pulled out injured during Fiorentina's game with Siena today.

    There are also fears for Giorgio Chiellini, Daniele De Rossi and Andrea Pirlo, who are on a yellow card and could therefore be suspended for the Ireland match.

    Italy squad
    Goalkeepers: Buffon (Juventus), Amelia (Palermo), De Sanctis (Galatasaray);
    Defenders: Bocchetti (Genoa), Cannavaro (Real Madrid), Chiellini (Juventus), Dossena (Liverpool), Gamberini (Fiorentina), Grosso (Olympique Lyon), Motta (Roma), Zambrotta (Milan);
    Midfielders: Brighi (Roma), De Rossi (Roma), Foggia (Lazio), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Palombo (Sampdoria), Pepe (Udinese), Pirlo (Milan);
    Forwards: Di Natale (Udinese), Iaquinta (Juventus), Pazzini (Sampdoria), Quagliarella (Udinese), Rossi (Villarreal).

    i like what Lippi is doing but i wanted him to call up Santon , i think the kid deserves a call up even if he is still too young but Motta is the same.

    Santon can play on the left n on the Right back side just like Zambrotta

    If someone should have been called it's not Santon It's definitely SEBASTIAN GIOVINCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think he's going to be Italy's next big thing, like Paolo Rossi or Roberto Baggio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even better: He's going 2 be the next Alex Del Piero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    im happy to see Motta get a call up. Although im worried all this spotlight might damage him as a player. his arrogance was apparent when he was sent off against Sampdoria.
    But im even happier for Brighi, its been a long time coming and he fully deserves the call-up. what he lacks in skills and creativity he made up for with work effort.
    would also be interesting to see Iaquinta as a starter as he is on form atm. its going to be great watching the former Udine pair Iaquinta and Di Natale side by side again.
